GREY MATTERS
Grey Matters is a collective intelligence art project with participants from around the world connecting via a variety of social media platforms to produce a series of works exploring the concept of grey – literally and metaphorically - in response to growing extremism within public discourse and big social media, and the sound-bite, click-bait, post-truth culture that feeds it.

Taking inspiration from honeybees, these works investigate the creative potential of cyber micro-eutopias, the notion of Self, and the changing nature of relationships in the Information Age.  Grey Matters makes an appeal to the 'wisdom of the crowds', to its collective grey matter, in resistance to extremist ideology, black-and-white thinking, and hate.

Networked art ‘events’ using photography, digital drawing, and text based work have a continually updated virtual presence;  sometimes they have a physical interpretation in beeswax, returning these cyber-experiments to the ‘physical’ world from which they were derived.
